Booker T Washington commemorative half dollar 1946, MS64. Born in a slave shack (blacks were already emancipated by this time) and enshrined in the Hall of Fame for Great Americans- both depicted on the reverse. Booker T Washington headed the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute after completing his college education. He went on to advise Presidents Howard Taft and Theodore Roosevelt during their presidencies.
